There were quite a few surprises across the opening stage of the tournament.

RIGA (Latvia) - Everyone loves a good underdog story and we've had a quite few of those at FIBA EuroBasket 2025 already.

The Group Phase at the flagship event is now concluded with several surprising results and real upsets.

Perhaps the biggest upset came on the very opening day of the tournament with Portugal defeating Czechia. It was like a sneak peek of what's to come with Portugal celebrating Round of 16 glory and Czechia flying home without a win and another entry into the biggest upsets lineup.

Another one that created a stir was Great Britain's first EuroBasket win since 2013 - a six-point success over favorites Montenegro who held destiny in their own hands and would have advanced into the Final Phase with a win, but the Brits had other ideas.

There were also Israel's surprisingly comfortable win over France and Bosnia and Herzegovina who overcame Greece without Giannis Antetokounmpo, but Türkiye's victory over Serbia in the Sengun vs Jokic battle for ages also earned its place on the list.
