RIGA (Latvia) - The handover from the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 co-hosts to the organizers of the 2029 event took place on Sunday to mark the look ahead to the next edition.
The official on-court ceremony for the traditional handover was organized during half-time of the Third Place Game between Finland and Greece.
FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbajosa and FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak also took part in the ceremony.
The representatives for the 2029 co-hosts were Priit Sarapuu, President of the Estonian Basketball Association; Evangelos Liolios, President of the Hellenic Basketball Federation; Gasper Pisler, Representative of the Slovenia Basketball Federation and Elisa Aguilar, President of the Spanish Basketball Federation.
Meanwhile, passing on the baton for the current hosts were Andreas Mouzourides, President of the Cyprus Basketball Federation; Timo Elo, President of Basketball Finland; Grzegorz Bachanski, President of the Polish Basketball Federation and Raimonds Vejonis, President of the Latvian Basketball Association.
The four co-hosts of the 43rd edition of Europe's flagship event were announced in May 2025 at the meeting of the FIBA Europe Board, when the candidates presented their bids.
The Group Phase of the prestigious competition will be played in Athens, Greece; Ljubljana, Slovenia; Tallinn, Estonia and Madrid, Spain, with the Spanish capital also set to provide the backdrop for the Final Phase.
