    Iceland edge GB in thriller to advance; Italy finish Group D top by beating Lithuania

    Iceland came back from an 11-point deficit to produce a late fightback and beat Great Britain 88-86 to advance to the Second Round of the World Cup Qualifiers.

    Iceland comeback seals Second Round spot

    Jon Axel Gudmundsson led the winners with 25 points and 8 rebounds, with Hermannsson adding 20. GB were led by a game-high 23 from Josh Uduje.

    Italy enter the Second Round full of confidence after edging Lithuania 87-84 in a game decided in the dying moments, finishing top of the group with a 5-1 record.

    In the end, Nico Mannion's three-pointer with 39 seconds left proved to be the difference as Mannion hit four triples for 27 points. Azoulas Tubelis led the already-qualified Lithuania with 25 points and 12 boards.

    Portugal stun Greece on the road, but both qualify; Montenegro crawl past Romania to also progress

    Portugal produced the performance of a lifetime to beat Greece 71-56 in their Group B clash in Athens and qualify for the Second Round.

    Portugal stun Greece to seal historic Second Round berth

    Rafael Lisboa led the victors with 16 points on 50 percent shooting. Elijah Mitrou Long had 11 for the Greeks, who also go through.

    Montenegro also advanced to the Second Round, but only just got past Romania 65-64 in a tense ending.

    Igor Drobnjak went 6-for-7 from the free throw line to finish with a team-high 13 points. Daron Russell led all scorers in vain for the unlucky Romanians.

    Georgia came back from a 22-point deficit to beat Spain 91-89 after a period of overtime in a breathtaking clash in Group A.

    Tornike Shengelia paced the Georgians with 37 points, with six of those coming in the extra period and 10 rebounds, with Marcquise Reed adding 32. Willy Hernangomez led the Spanish charge with 19, but despite dropping their first game at the final hurdle, will be kicking themselves for dropping a substantial lead.

    Ukraine will head into the Second Round with perfect momentum after defeating Denmark 99-69 - behind the brilliance of Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk.

    The Utah Jazz guard had 30 points, hitting six three-pointers, while dishing out 5 assists to lead the Ukrainians to glory. Gustav Erichsen led the Danes with 14 points as their campaign ended without a win in six games.
