MIES (Switzerland) - Groups C and D are all set to begin the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers' third window as lineups of the eight teams competing on Monday, June 29, have been confirmed.
Group C: Iran, Jordan, Syria, Iraq Group D: Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Qatar, India
Iran and Syria will open Window 3 action at the Prince Hamza Hall in Jordan at 16:30 local time, with Team Melli hoping to bounce back after their bid to go 3-0 got spoiled following a 73-60 loss to the Falcons last window.
Iran are also looking to keep their mastery of Syria, whom they have beaten eight times in their last nine meetings in FIBA competitions, the most recent of which a 82-43 rout during the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Group Phase.
World Cup 2027 hosts Qatar, meanwhile, will be hosting Saudi Arabia in Doha at 19:00 local time, with their sights set on stretching their winning streak to three after beating Lebanon and India in the last two windows.
Should they take care of business against KSA, Qatar would be making history, as netting their third win would mean surpassing their win total from the 2019 World Cup Qualifiers where they only chalked up two.
The third game of the night will see the 3-0 Jordan take on Iraq at 19:30 Amman time, with the Falcons not only looking to keep their record intact but to give returning head coach Wesam Al-Sous a winning welcome.
Lebanon and India will close it out as they're set to duke it out at the Nouhad Nawfal Sports Complex. Tipoff time is set at 21:00 Zouk Mikael time, with the Cedars out to get the job done to reach the Second Round.
These games were originally scheduled back in Window 2 last March, but the games were postponed as FIBA took the necessary measures with respect to the safety and security of all involved in those games.
