ABIDJAN (FIBA) - On Saturday, 4 July, five new players put on a show in games played in Dakar, Douala and Luanda.
Here's a glimpse of what we witnessed in Saturday's six games.
In Group A in Douala, Cameroon, Lok Wur came off the bench to produce some clinical shots and contribute defensively to the Bright Stars of South Sudan, who brushed aside Cape Verde 83–63.
Also in Douala, Cameroon needed to maintain their winning momentum, and the excellent shooter Fabien Ateba delivered, shooting 9-for-15, including 7-for-11 from deep to finish with 29 points. In the process, Cameroon outscored Cape Verde 86–76.
In Luanda, the capital of Angola, Mali playmaker Siriman Kanoute produced one of the most impressive performances, helping his country beat Uganda 82–59. Kanouté scored 20 points and provided 8 assists.
Ehab Amin played a key role in one of the most shocking results of 4 July's fixtures.
In addition to his 22 points, he grabbed seven rebounds to help Egypt upset the hosts, Angola, with a final score of 79–73.
In Dakar, Ibrahima Faye, achieved a double-double, finishing with 20 points and 10 rebounds, as Senegal secured a 101-59 victory over Madagascar.
