ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - The First Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 African Qualifiers is complete. While all 12 teams have secured their place in the Second Round, they won't be starting from scratch.
Each nation carries over its First Round results against the other qualified teams from its group, meaning every win and loss still counts.
As a result, the standings for the two newly formed Second Round groups are already taking shape, with some teams in a much stronger position than others in the race to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.
Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali and Senegal have given themselves a clear head start in the race for one of the five tickets to Doha. For more information on how to qualify for the World Cup, please click here.
