    Expert Picks

This season we're calling on the one-two punch of FIBA's global women's basketball specialist Paul Nilsen and EuroLeague Women lead commentator Mark Mills for their predictions.

It's Paul who opens up the new calendar year with his Gameday 9 predictions.

    Safe Pick🔒

Fenerbahce Opet have more or less assumed permanent residency of this category. But can you blame us? They have been absolutely awesome and show few signs of slowing down. Even if Basket Landes are sometimes tricky on their home court, they won't have the quality of depth in the frontcourt in particular to keep pace with the tournament favorites.

    50/50🪙

It's a fabulous looking matchup on paper and no doubt the game of the week as Spar Girona go up against Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring. It looks like a coin toss, but maybe it's the visitors who will have the experience to get it done and especially with that backcourt of Teja Oblak and Marine Johannes, while Dorka Juhasz has been superb in the paint. Her battle with December MVP Mariam Coulibaly will be monumental, with Girona fans also loving the work of young Juste Jocyte.

    Wildcard 🃏

In truth, there are very few options this week, but Casademont Zaragoza will have to be at their best if they want to avoid a banana skin and an upset by 'wildcard' pick DVTK HUNTHERM. The Spanish visitors should get the job done, but their Hungarian hosts can't be ruled out from taking a win that could derail the Final Six hopes of their opponents.
