Expert Picks
This season we're calling on the one-two punch of FIBA's global women's basketball specialist Paul Nilsen and EuroLeague Women lead commentator Mark Mills for their predictions.
It's back to Paul this week as he shares his Gameday 11 picks and his last of this Second Round phase.
Game | Expert Pick |
|---|---|
Fenerbahce Opet vs Casademont Zaragoza | Fenerbahce Opet |
DVTK HUNTHERM vs Umana Reyer Venezia | Umana Reyer Venezia |
ZVVZ USK Praha vs Beretta Famila Schio | ZVVZ USK Praha |
Valencia Basket Club vs Basket Landes | Valencia Basket Club |
Spar Girona vs Flammes Carolo Basket | Spar Girona |
Tango Bourges Basket vs Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring | Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring |
Safe Pick🔒
You could make an argument that this is the first week of the entire campaign when there is no obvious safe pick. On balance, Fenerbahce Opet should power past Casademont Zaragoza, but the Spanish side always pull out big results. So, maybe it has to be Umana Reyer Venezia getting the win they need at lowly DVTK HUNTHERM.
50/50🪙
The clash between ZVVZ USK Praha and Beretta Famila Schio surely has to be the game of the week by some distance. Both sides come into this one off the back of fantastic victories and whoever takes the honors in the Czech capital will be in a great place. On paper you probably have to see Praha as the favorites with home advantage and Brionna Jones in situ. But, Jessica Shepard is unstoppable right now for Schio and it might actually come down to other areas and especially who can make scores from outside the paint. It's very tough to call.
Wildcard 🃏
There are not a lot of options, so a wildcard pick is for Tango Bourges Basket to possibly cause Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring some problems at Le Prado. With Kariata Diaby in situ, they do have a powerhouse that can take the fight in the paint to Dorka Juhasz and Awak Kuier. While Galatasaray are still favorites, Bourges have continued to surprise this season, so you can never rule them out.
