MUNICH (Germany) - Leila Lacan has been crowned EuroLeague Women MVP for January after producing some amazing work which has been a major driving force behind Basket Landes making history by jumping to the Semi-Final Play-Ins.
The guard has turned up the noise with some amazing displays and she clinches the award thanks to a combination of both fan and expert panel voting. Lacan was one of five standout ballers who where chosen for the January Team of the Month.
Just 21 years-old, Lacan averaged a strong performance efficiency valuation of 19.3 during the period, showcasing her offensive skills and impressive defensive intensity.
She averaged a terrific 20.7 points, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game across January and was instrumental in some standout wins for Landes.
The first game of January saw Landes record on of their most famous victories in the competition as they not only took victory against red-hot favorites Fenerbahce Opet, but did so in style with an 80-61 success. Lacan was in fire with 10 of 15 from the field helping her to a career high 28 points in the competition.
She then continued her rich vein of shooting form by going 5 of 6 en-route to 13 points in a comfortable 79-59 home triumph against DVTK HUNTHERM - as well as dishing out 3 dimes for good measure.
Helping Landes write a new page of history, Lacan then starred in a fantastic 76-72 win on the road at Valencia Basket Club as they confirmed their Final Six ticket. She did it all at both ends of the court with 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Lacan follows on from Mariam Coulibaly of Spar Girona who took the December crown, while Fenerbahce duo Iliana Rupert and Julie Allemand wrapped up the October and November editions of the accolade.
