ZARAGOZA (Spain) - This season's winners of the EuroLeague Women Awards have been revealed in a prestigious ceremony at the Final Six in Zaragoza, Spain with Dorka Juhasz of Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring headlining the event after being named Most Valuable Player.
Taking place at the Edificio Pignatelli in the Spanish city of Zaragoza, the ceremony was also live streamed on the EuroLeague Women YouTube channel.
The event was hosted by the Government of Aragon, represented by President Jorge Azcon. The ceremony was also attended by FIBA President Sheikh Saud Ali Al Thani, FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbajosa, FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak, FIBA Europe Vice President Carmen Tocala, FIBA Europe Board members Hannes Jonsson, Wolfgang Brenscheidt, Huseyin Besok and Elisabeth Egnell - as well as FIBA Central Board member Sonja Vasic, and FIBA Hall of Fame member Natalia Hejkova
The winners of the season awards were determined by combining the votes of EuroLeague Women coaches, players, selected media and also the fans
Most Valuable Player: Dorka Juhasz (Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring)
Dorka Juhasz was crowned MVP in recognition of her outstanding campaign with this year's Finalists, Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring. The 26 year-old is the youngest ever recipient of the award and has attained a performance efficiency valuation of 16.8 after shooting 52 percent from the field en-route to 12.8 points per game - along with 8.0 rebounds per outing.
All-EuroLeague Women First Team
Headed by MVP Dorka Juhasz, the All-EuroLeague Women First Team also includes a trio of Fenerbahce Opet teammates in the shape of Emma Meesseman, Iliana Rupert and Julie Allemand. There is also a place for Leila Lacan who has been at the heart of a best ever season for Basket Landes.
All-EuroLeague Women Second Team
The All-EuroLeague Women second team includes title-chasing Gabby Williams of Fenerbahce Opet, while there are also places for Casademont Zaragoza leader, Mariona Ortiz and Jessica Shepard of Beretta Famila Schio. There is strong representation for African hoops too, with the inclusion of Murjanatu Musa of Basket Landes and Mariam Coulibaly of Spar Girona.
All-EuroLeague Women Third Team
The All-EuroLeague Women Third Team has the dynamic Lithuanian rising star Juste Jocyte alongside the experienced Fenerbahce Opet guard, Kayla McBride. There are also slots for Helena Pueyo of Casademont Zaragoza, Kaila Charles of Umana Reyer Venezia and Awak Kuier of Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring.
Defensive Player of the Year: Gabby Williams (Fenerbahce Opet)
Gabby Williams of Fenerbahce Opet was awarded her third Defensive Player of the Year honor to retain the accolade she won last season.
Her first came during 2021 while suiting up for Sopron Basket and she has been a force for Fenerbahce again. Chasing another title, she has averaged a performance efficiency valuation of 15.1, averaging 13.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game - as well as a competition-high 3.0 steals per outing.
Rising Star: Leila Lacan (Basket Landes)
As well as making the All-EuroLeague Women First Team, Leila Lacan also picked up the Rising Star award the wake of her superb performances for Basket Landes throughout their campaign.
The French guard was a leader beyond her years, averaging a performance efficiency valuation of 11.4 after recording 12.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.0 steals per outing.
Coach of the Year: Julie Barennes (Basket Landes)
Basket Landes posted their best ever season having made an unprecedented run to the Quarter-Finals of the competition. The French club's playcaller Julie Barennes was recognized for masterminding the historic feat by being handed Coach of the Year honors.
Legacy Award: Ann Wauters
Belgian legend Ann Wauters was honored with the EuroLeague Women Legacy Award, presented by Azulmarino in recognition of her incredible achievements in the competition.
A four-time champion, she is the leading scorer and rebounder of the modern era, as well as having the second most game appearances.
Club Excellence Award: Fenerbahce Opet
Fenerbahce Opet claimed this year's Club Excellence award after impressing across multiple areas including digital communications, fan engagement, game organization and other operations within the EuroLeague Women framework
