EuroLeague Women Power Rankings: Volume 2

They have also considered progress against the second volume of the Power Rankings, which was published at the midway point of the First Round.

    1. Fenerbahce Opet (-)

    Season Record: 6-0

We have to lock the top spot in for the entire season - right? Favorites before a ball was thrown up, favorites after winning a perfect six from six and still favorites to be crowned champions having also added the outstanding Gabby Williams to the mix. With November MVP Julie Allemand balling out, Iliana Rupert having another super campaign and MVP magnet Emma Meesseman shifting throught the gears, it's all looking scary good again.

    2. Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring (-)

Season Record: 6-0 It's been a blistering return to the competition! Like their city rivals, they also have a flawless record. Bizarrely, it hasn't all been plain sailing though, digging out a few nail-biting wins and changing coaches, with Firat Okul replacing Ekrem Memnun. Now Marine Johannes is in situ alongside Teja Oblak and with Kamiah Smalls, Awak Kuier and Dorka Juhasz all shining, could they really set up an all-timer Final showdown against Fenerbahce? Oof.

    3. Valencia Basket Club (-)

    Season Record: 4-2

It's been a mixed bag. They've looked dominant and awesome in spells - led by the towering presence of Kayla Alexander. The Canadian is in the MVP race in what is the best season of her career. But the loss at Fenerbahce showed the gap between Valencia and the very best. Having also waved goodbye to Alina Iagupova, it will be interesting to see what the Second Round has in store. Most impressive of all? The absolutely amazing Roig Arena.

    4. Spar Girona (+3)

    Season Record: 5-1

Juste Joycte has been superb in her first season with Spar Girona and a driver behind their eye-catching 5-1 record

While they succumbed to a first defeat in their last outing, it's been a stellar effort so far. Watching Klara Holm and Juste Jocyte in tandem has become one a favorite thing of any basketball fan. And, what about Mariam Coulibaly? A colossus! A huge opportunity has presented itself for Roberto Iniguez and his team. Maintaining intensity and focus will be just as much of a challenge as anything else. Have they now got what it takes to finish the job?

    5. Beretta Famila Schio (-)

    Season Record: 4-2

With Jessica Shepard now making some serious noise on the court and establishing herself as a driving force, it's up to her teammates to also turn up the volume too. A 4-2 record is positive for Schio taking into account that Cecilia Zandalasini has not yet found her best form and other ballers have been up and down. But if the pieces come together in this Second Round, the Italian club have the experience and quality on their roster to dream big.

    6. Umana Reyer Venezia (+1)

    Season Record: 4-2

Reyer have proven they might have the resilience to reach the season showpiece for the first time. While hanging in the balance, they didn't melt under pressure after a positive 2-0 start to the season became 2-2. Bouncing back to form, they use their physical size so well with Steph Mavunga. Lorela Cubaj, Joyner Holmes and Kaila Charles. Even if Reyer are not exactly a walking highlights reel, they're super tough to play against and very well-drilled.

    7. Basket Landes (+1)

    Season Record: 4-2

Playcaller Julie Barennes has guided Landes to an impressive 4-2 record so far

How do Landes keep doing it? Are they becoming a favorite 'second team' for those who admire them throwing so many basketball punches on the court to defy the odds - also packing out their venue to create an amazing game night atmosphere? On paper they shouldn't be so well set, but massive credit to Julie Barennes. A total team focus and different players stepping up in different games - that superb Louise Bussiere triple in Mersin a prime example!

    8. Casademont Zaragoza (-2)

    Season Record: 3-3

Before the 'customer service rankings hotline' explodes from a deluge of upset and passionate Zaragoza fans, it's all about that 3-3 record. Will it be enough of a base to build on? That is the big question and especially in a group with Fenerbahce and Valencia. The downwards move might also feel harsh in the wake of that terrific win to punch their ticket against Mersin. But if Mariona Ortiz and Helena Pueyo breathe fire, then the Final Six is still in sight.

    9. ZVVZ USK Praha (-5)

Season Record: 3-3 Will the real Praha please stand up? With their underwhelming 3-3 record, there's not much headroom left when it comes to their dreams of retaining their crown. Another loss or two and their hopes could go up in flames. It's been an intense roller coaster of highs and lows. The team has struggled to find its identity after the departure of Natalia Hejkova. Also, without centerpeice Brionna Jones, it's been an uphill struggle. Will they now turn it around?

    10. Tango Bourges Basket (+2)

    Season Record: 4-2

Tango Bourges Basket signed off the First Round with three wins in a row

What a turnaround for Bourges! They head into the Second Round searching for a fabulous fourth win in a row and few will have seen that coming. Alix Duchet and Kariata Diaby have been pulling out a devastating one-two punch, but the supporting cast has been excellent too. From losing their first game of the Qualifiers at Kibirkstis to beating champions Praha by 35 points and ending a five game winning streak for Spar Girona. Eye-catching work!

    11. Flammes Carolo Basket (-)

    Season Record: 2-4

Is your glass half full or half empty Carolo fans? It's been incredibly exciting either way, with a string of dramatic games that ultimately ended in narrow defeats and a 2-4 record, but shows their ability to cause headaches for opponents. Noemie Brochant and Isabelle Strunc have been impressive, while Flammes have been red hot from long-range. Yes, they're still outsiders, but they certainly have more headlines to write in this competition.

    12. DVTK HUNTHERM (+3)

    Season Record: 1-5

It's been a relatively rough season wins-wise compared to previous ones for DVTK, but the silver lining is still making it to the Second Round. Although with a 1-5 record, the pathway to the Final Six looks like mission impossible. With a roster short on the same level of quality and depth as their group rivals, the Hungarian club are massive underdogs. But can they still bite at some point during this next phase and cause what would be a big upset?
