France confirm final roster for Zaragoza

PARIS (2016 FIBA U17 Women’s World Championship) – France have revealed the 12 players who will step out at the forthcoming FIBA U17 Women’s World Championship, with Tima Pouye the pick of the crop.

Pouye was the player who made the biggest impression at the FIBA U16 Women’s European Championship 2015 and she is joined by nine of her colleagues from Matosinhos.

France roster for the 2016 FIBA U17 Women's World Championship

Clara Bretagne Nomei Brochant Laura Fischer Nabala Fofana
Daphne Gnago Coline Franchelin Carla M'Baye Naomie Mbandu
Tima Pouye Sarah Saint Martin Kadiatou Sissoko Emmanuelle Tahane

While head coach Cathy Melain has confessed that she is not sure which France will show up when the action gets underway, the play-caller does at least have continuity to call upon.

There are spots for the likes of Naomie Mbandu who was the leading rebounder last year, while point guard Clara Bretagne is back on board to direct proceedings from the backcourt – as is Emmanuelle Tahane, who played more minutes per game than anybody other than Pouye in Matosinhos.

France will lock horns with Australia, China and Mexico in Group B and are looking to improve on the eighth place finish they achieved two years ago in Pilsen and Klatovy.
