FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers: Saturday’s killer questions

MUNICH (FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers) – The race to make FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 is about to tip-off and we take a look at the killer questions ahead of Saturday's exciting schedule of games.

Group A

Iceland vs Montenegro – Will Glory Johnson make her debut for the visitors? Can head coach Roberto Iniguez get his first competitive win at the helm? Can Iceland cause an upset and make the most of a wafer-thin Montenegro backcourt without the now retired Jelena Skerovic?
Bosnia and Herzegovina vs Slovak Republic – Can the visitors maintain the momentum of their excellent top eight finish at the 2017 Final Round? Will Lynetta Kizer and Marica Gajic provide the magical combination for the hosts and who will bring the backcourt scoring?

Group B

Estonia vs Turkey – Is this now the time for the next generation to take over fully for Turkey, via the likes of Pelin Bilgic, Ayse Cora, Olcay Cakir and Tilbe Senyurek? Can Estonia compete physically with Quanitra Hollingsworth in the paint?
Poland vs Belarus – Will the return of Fenerbahce star Anastasiya Verameyenka who missed the Final Round earlier this year, give Belarus the winning edge? Can Poland find the offense and put enough points on the board? Will teenage star Anna Makurat show her promise at senior level?

Group C

Albania vs Russia – Is this the biggest mis-match of the day? Can Albania stay competitive? The odds are stacked in favour of Olaf Lange getting a debut win with Russia, but what can he learn for Wednesday?
Lithuania vs Hungary – Will Hungary's naturalized player Cyesha Goree prove her value in the paint? Can young guns like Debora Dubei and Agnes Studer begin to make an impact? Will the return of head coach Mantas Sernius for Lithuania get them back on track? Will Gintare Petronyte prove too hot to handle for Hungary?

Group D

Portugal vs Greece – Will Greece continue where they left off after a stunning showing and top four finish at Final Round? Can Evanthia Maltsi continue to drive Greece with her inspirational displays? Are Portugal going to finally bring through their youth stars into the senior set up and get some standout wins?
Great Britain vs Israel – Will the absence of veteran scorer Shay Doron be too much for Israel to cope with? Can Alysha Clark continue her great form for her adopted country? Will another CCC Polkowice player in Temi Fagbenle be the difference-maker for Great Britain? Have the hosts got enough backcourt firepower to prevail?

Group E

Romania vs Slovenia – Do Gabriela Marginean and Ashley Walker give Romania a foundation for victory? Who is going to make a noise in the backcourt for the hosts? Can Slovenia cope without retired duo Sandra Pirsic and Maja Erkic? Is it made for the combined guard skills of Teja Oblak, Nika Baric and Annamaria Prezelj?
Finland vs France – Is the return of Sandrine Gruda a difference-maker for France? Will they move on without the legendary and now retired Celine Dumerc, with Marine Johannes and Olivia Epoupa stepping up? Can Finland keep it ugly and dig out a shock result?

Group F

Bulgaria vs Spain – Will Bulgaria even get close to causing a major upset? Will Spain hand any big minutes to newcomers such as FIBA U20 Women MVP, Maria Arajuo? Will Leticia Romero take over from the retired legend Laia Palau like she is trying to do at club level with Prague?
Netherlands vs Ukraine – Is Alina Iagupova going to have too much in her offensive locker for Netherlands to lock down? Will the visitors be able to replicate their spectacular unbeaten form in the Qualifiers for FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017? Is Janis Ndiba the player to cause Ukraine problems inside? Can Netherlands stand up physically in this contest and not get bullied?

Group G

Switzerland vs Belgium – Can the Swiss team handle the twin towers threat of Ann Wauters and Emma Meesseman? Will Belgium use the confidence of that historic bronze in Prague to become even more slick and dominant? Which guards will get the nod for Belgium as they have so many options?
Germany vs Czech Republic – In his first game in the hotseat, will Stefan Svitek be able to pick up the Czech players mentally after their Final Round disappointment? Can Alena Hanusova and Katerina Elhotova set the tone for the visitors? Even if it is the first game, is this one Germany can’t afford to lose?

Group H

MKD vs Italy – All eyes will be on Cecilia Zandalasini and so can the WNBA champion start off on fire? Will new Italy coach Marco Crespi get a first win? Will the home team be able to exploit a lack of depth in the paint for Italy?
Croatia vs Sweden – Could this be the game of the day? Will the legendary Andja Jelavic get Croatia off to a jump start? Will Sweden show their huge potential and make an early statement? Is this all about Luca Ivankovic and Marija Rezan winning the duel against Amanda Zahui under the hoop?
