Argentina, Brazil and Ecuador remain undefeated after Day 2

AYSEN (FIBA U16 Americas Women’s Championship 2019) – The National Teams from Argentina, Brazil and Ecuador added new wins on Day 2 of the South American Women’s Championship 2018 and remain undefeated on the regional competition.

Brazil defeated Venezuela 69-42, to extend its record to 2-0. After finishing the first quarter tied at 15, Brazil captured a slight lead after a 15-9 second quarter. The Brazilians went on to win the second half comfortably and secured the win. Brenda Silva was again the top performer for the Brazilians with 20 points and 9 rebounds.

Ecuador added another win in the South American U15 Women’s Championship following a 64-60 exciting victory over Paraguay. Throughout the 40 minutes the teams battled for the top of the scoreboard and the winner was decided on the closing moments of the game. Samy Bacilio was the top performer for Ecuador with a 10-point and 18-rebound “double-double”.

Argentina defeated Colombia 62-44 to take the leadership of Group B of the South American U15 Women’s Championship 2018. The team coached by Laura Cors dominated from the start and secured the win with a 15-10 last quarter. Federica Del Bosco was the top performer for the Argentinians with 20 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists.

Chile leveled its record at 1-1 following a 73-56 win over Uruguay. The host of the South American U15 Women’s Championship dominated from the get-go with a 21-12 first quarter. Chile kept adding to the difference and celebrated the win. Valentina Ojeda was the top performer for the Chilean squad with an 18-point and 12-rebound “double-double”.

On the last day of the Group Phase, Brazil will face Ecuador, Argentina will take-on Uruguay, Venezuela will match-up against Paraguay and Colombia will face the host.
