Park to power Korea once again at U19 Women's Worlds

SEOUL (2015 FIBA U19 Women's World Championship) - The irrepressible figure of Ji Su Park will once again propel Korea at the FIBA U19 Women's World Championship.

Only this time, when she steps out, she will have the added benefit from the experience of having played on the global stage at senior level in the wake of her appearance at last year's FIBA Women's World Championship in Turkey.

She showed her quality by leading the team in scoring with 11 points per game in Istanbul, although it wasn't enough to prevent an early exit from the competition.

A formidable presence and absolute phenomenon who took to the court when aged just 14 years old at the previous FIBA U19 Women's World Championship in Lithuania, the center will be even more of a towering and imposing presence this time around. The Seongnam native is also the only player with previous experience of the event.

This will also be the fifth time as a teenager that Park has played on a global platform, having featured twice at the FIBA U17 Women's World Championship.

She will operate in tandem with Haeun Lee, who is back to form a partnership in the paint with Park and they will be a real nuisance on the glass, as well as providing a significant presence in the post.

The other player likely to have a significant amount of responsibility in Chekhov is Hyeona Kim, since her all-action style from the wing always results in productivity either side of the three-point line.

The main omission from the roster is playmaker Heji An, who led the team in assists at last year's FIBA Asia U18 Women’s Championship.

Korea will face Australia, Brazil and Serbia in Group D.

Korea preliminary squad for 2015 FIBA U19 Women's World Championship: Jihyun Cha, Dayeong Eom, An Jin, Yoolim Kang, Hyeona Kim, Hyeongkyeong Kim, Jiyoung Kim, Seyoung Kim, Sunhee Kim, Yejin Kim, Yeonhee Kim, Haeun Lee, Jiwoo Lee, Juyeon Lee, Jiun Park, Ji Su Park, Hyeonyi Yu, Yebin Yun.
