Canada complete comeback to reach Last Eight

CHEKHOV (2015 FIBA U19 Women's World Championship) - Canada are celebrating reaching the Quarter-Finals of the 2015 FIBA U19 Women’s World Championship after a late surge handed them a 58-52 win against Serbia.

Turning point: Trailing 46-38 early in the fourth quarter, Canada just found another offensive gear altogether and one they have not shown previously. It sparked a devastating 17-2 run which turned the game completely on its head.

Stats Don’t Lie: Serbia didn't have a single player in double figures which underlined their offensive woes and the unfulfilled need for someone to step up with a game-winning performance.

Game Heroes: Bridget Carleton showed why she is so highly rated with 24 points and eight boards, while Lauren Yearwood did the dirty work inside with a vital and impressive 16 rebounds.

The Bottom Line: Canada avoided a third straight loss and the prize was a considerable one as they reached the Last Eight of the competition. Much of this crucial victory was built around mental strength of coming back from a pedestrian start and also belatedly finding their scoring touch when it mattered most. Serbia were in control and will be kicking themselves for drying up down the stretch and allowing themselves to be dumped into the Classification Round.
