Schio beat Wisla to boost Quarter-Final hopes

SCHIO (EuroLeague Women) – Beretta Famila Schio enhanced their prospects of reaching the EuroLeague Women Quarter-Finals with a comfortable 80-54 home win against Wisla Can-Pack.

While Miguel Mendez and his side remain in fifth position in Group B, they are now back on an even keel with a 5-5 record and eyeing up a top four berth.

Making the most of a Wisla side still without their kingpin Ewelina Kobryn, Schio were 12 points ahead at the interval.

È vero, siamo di parte ma.... per noi era buono 🏀😎❤️😁! #familaschio #euroleaguewomen

After the visitors briefly threatened to launch a second-half comeback, the home side choked off their renaissance with the first eight points of the last quarter to restore their supremacy.

Five Schio players posted double-digit scoring returns, including young Cecilia Zandalasini who led the way with 16 points.

Meanwhile Hind Ben Abdelkadar scored 17 points in defeat, with her team-mate Vanessa Gidden harvesting a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. But, having dropped to 2-8, the Quarter-Final hopes of Wisla are hanging by the finest of threads.
