CCC Polkowice claim first win as two Russian sides advance

MUNICH (EuroLeague Women) - Dynamo Kursk and UMMC Ekaterinburg are the first two teams to book their spots in the Quarter-Finals, while there was a first win of the season for CCC Polkowice.

After nine consecutive losses, Polkowice finally got over the winning line by upsetting Nadezhda on the road in a 50-60 triumph.

Amanda Zahui tallied 14 points and 15 boards for the home side, but they were handed their third loss in Group B as Maros Kovacik’s side gradually pulled away for a memorable win.

UMMC Ekaterinburg became the first team to reach the century mark this season and also the first into the Quarter-Finals after a 103-40 victory over Hatay BB.

Brittney Griner scored 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting whilst adding 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks in just 13 minutes on court as all 12 players got onto the scoresheet with minutes spread across the roster.

The Russian side racked up an impressive 63 points in the first half en route to improving to a 9-1 mark in Group B while Hatay drop to 3-7.

A couple of hours later and it was the turn of Dynamo Kursk to be celebrating a place in the last eight as they made it a perfect 10 wins from 10 with a 65-43 success against BLMA.

Kursk held their opponents to 30% shooting from the floor with Nnemkadi Ogwumike posting a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

Meanwhile, Fenerbache bounced back from their second defeat last week by claiming a 66-53 win at home to Uni Gyor behind 17 points from Allie Quigley.

ZVVZ USK Prague also moved onto an 8-2 record in Group as they inflicted a 10th straight loss on Mersin with a convincing 96-47 victory at home.

Alena Hanusova top scored with 18 points with Prague finishing 9-of-18 from three-point range in a clinical shooting display to edge closer to a place in the next round.

The winning run in 2017 continued for Bourges Basket as they pulled away for an 80-59 win at home to Uniqa Sopron with Clarissa Dos Santos leading the way with 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Also, Perfumerias Avenida ended a run of three straight defeats with a 79-70 win over ESBVA-LM with both teams now on 5-5 records in Group B.
