Good Angels Kosice ask Allen to lead their charge

KOSICE (EuroCup Women 2017) – Good Angels Kosice have turned to Australia and WNBA wing Rebecca Allen to lead them into their first EuroCup Women regular season for a decade.

The Slovak Republic champions will end nine consecutive years competing in EuroLeague Women to take on a new challenge, with Allen asked to provide the quality which she has been showcasing with the New York Liberty.

In her second season in the WNBA, the Victorian native has been averaging over ten minutes per game and her defensive skills in particular have come to the fore. While she didn't make the final cut for the Rio Olympics, she did represent the Opals at the 2014 FIBA Women’s World Championship in Turkey.

It will be Allen's first experience of club basketball in Europe and she follows in the footsteps of her compatriot Erin Phillips in wearing Kosice colours.

The 23-year-old will line up alongside Slovenia national team playmaker Teja Oblak, who Good Angels have identified as being critical to their success this season after extending her contract off the back of an impressive rise to prominence in the past couple of campaigns.

Good Angels Kosice will play in Group D of Conference 1 against Olympiacos, Aluinvent DVTK Miskolc and a qualifier from the EuroCup Women 2017 Qualifiers.
