Fenerbahce finish revenge mission, Spar Girona also go four in a row

MUNICH (Germany) - Fenerbahce Safiport are on a roll after they extracted sweet revenge against Basket Landes in Gameday 9 action on Wednesday, while Spar Girona are beginning to look like serious Final Four contenders.

Having suffered a shock home loss earlier in the campaign to Basket Landes, there was no better place for Fenerbahce Safiport to make it four wins on the bounce and get their own back on their Group A rivals.

Completing a commanding 93-76 victory, Fenerbahce had too much firepower and Elizabeth Williams was again a pillar of strength inside the paint with 23 points and 11 rebounds,  while Alina Iagupova also weighed in with 20 points. However the loss was tough on rising star Marine Fauthoux, who had 19 points and 9 assists for Landes.

Spar Girona are also celebrating a fourth straight success after they rolled their way past Beretta Famila Schio 65-55. A strong defensive performance did the trick as Girona gave up only 6 points during the last quarter to take the win and move to 6-3.

That defensive work was essential and especially with Schio star Sandrine Gruda showing her skills as usual and finishing with a monstrous 20 points and 14 boards. But Girona had their own top performers doing the business clinically, with Rebekah Garner and Kennedy Burke sharing 36 points for the winning team.

Also in Group B, Dynamo Kursk took another precious road win as they followed up last week's narrow success in Gdynia by beating Galatasaray 80-70 in Istanbul. The victory was sealed thanks to a strong second-half effort, as well as a one-two punch from Natasha Howard and Arike Ogunbowale.

Howard excelled in the frontcourt with 25 points and 11 rebounds, with Ogunbowale catching the eye in the backcourt and producing 22 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Galatasaray fell to a third loss in a row, despite the best efforts of Tina Krajisnik who amassed 22 points and 12 boards, as well as Riquna Williams who fired 25 points.

Meanwhile in Group A, Perfumerias Avenida completed a 71-51 lockdown of TTT Riga in the Latvian capital as they piled the pressure on their opponents throughout, forcing the home side to spill the ball 22 times.

TTT Riga had no answer and were held to just 8 and 9 points respectively during the second and third periods. Katie Lou Samuelson top scored for Avenida with 13 points as her team improved to 7-2.

ZVVZ USK Praha also have the same record in the group as Avenida after they made it five consecutive wins by tearing past MBA Moscow 92-61. There was also a similar theme as MBA turned it over an eye-watering 31 times in the contest.

Brionna Jones continued her great form for Praha after recording 25 points and 9 rebounds, while Nina Glonti dropped a season high of 18 points for Moscow.

The levels of unhappiness will be up for fans of KSC Szekszard as they lost their ninth game of a forgettable first season in the competition after being dismantled 82-57 at BLMA.

The search for a win continues for the Hungarians after they had no answers to a couple of influential contributions from BLMA duo Sydney Wallace who had 23 points and Haley Peters who scored 17.
