Fantastic quartet of French teams take the spotlight with a clean sweep

MUNICH (EuroCup Women) - It was a memorable night in EuroCup Women for French basketball as all four clubs racked up victories as they flew the famous tricolore with pride.

BLMA continued what is looking an ominous march towards potential silverware by brutally dismantling VBW CEKK Cegled 92-50 off the back of an incredible 30 points, 9 assists and 7 boards from Sami Whitcomb.

Tarbes are also 3-0 after completing a 75-58 success against BBC Sint Katelijne Waver thanks mainly to five players making double-digit scoring returns, while Basket Landes eased out Elfic Fribourg 73-59 as Miranda Ayim dropped a smart 18 points.

There was also a road win to make everybody sit up and take notice as Nantes Reze rode their way to a 58-84  victory at KP Brno who had previously stunned Reyer Venezia. Ana Suarez came up with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists.

"It is a good result for us and I  respect Brno because they won against Venezia,"confirmed Nantes head coach Emmanuel Coeuret,

"We were a little bit scared, because they play very aggressive and with their hearts. But we won our previous game in our home championship and so two wins in a row is great for us.“

Cukurova Basketbol and Spar CityLift Girona are yet to taste defeat, with the former destroying A3 Umea 54-91 on Swedish soil as  Astou Ndour produced 25 points, 8 board and 4 big blocks.

Girona were also far too strong for Gyor in the 100th game at the helm for head coach, Eric Suris. They pushed them aside 78-58 with veteran guard Nuria Martinez explaining they had used disappointment in Liga Femenina last weekend to drive them to victory.

She said: "After the loss in the league, we did a great job on defense. We are working to build the best team possible.

"Now we have to keep working to win the rest of the games, but it's going to be difficult, because all the teams in the group are good. We'll do our best to keep the ball rolling," insisted Martinez.

Reyer Venezia are finding a higher level now after the disappointment of their failed EuroLeague Women Qualifiers and they smashed past DVTK Miskolc 92-75 as Jolene Anderson caught the eye with a dazzling 23 point and 12 assists.

The power under the bucket of Aneika Henry was too much for the Sepsi-Sic defense as they were edged out 78-68, with the Orman Genclik center adding a mammoth 20 points and 15 rebounds.

KSZ Szekszard hit back from a loss last week to beat Basketball Nymburk 72-65 with Erica McCall and Abby Bishop sharing an impressive 48 points between them - the latter only just returning from an injury.

"After these long weeks of missing games, I felt good that I could be at my team's service finally," revealed Bishop.

"We fought together, and it was an important win on our home court."

Energa Torun took apart Niki Lefkada 44-74 on their travels and Lithuanian Egle Sniksiute inspired MBK Ruzomberok to a 77-68 win against Cinkarna Celje with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Finally, Lointek Gernika Bizkaia condemned Uniao Sportiva to their third loss in as many games by completing a 54-65 win in the Azores.
