Kausaite Content As Abdi And Zahui Return

MUNICH (FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017 Qualifiers) - Sweden's new national team coach Jurgita Kausaite has been handed a boost ahead of the EuroBasket Women 2017 qualifiers after both Farhiya Abdi and Amanda Zahui were named in the candidate list.

The pair missed the EuroBasket Women 2015 Final Round in favour of competing in the WNBA but are part of a 14-player list drawn up by the new play-caller.

"I am extremely happy with my squad," said Kausaite.

"Many of the players are playing at a high level in their club teams in Europe and have significant roles there.

"The squad has a good balance of players with different skills that will give us many choices in the game," she reiterated.

Both Abdi and Zahui are currently playing in Turkey - along with the naturalised Ashley Key who is always ready to give a scoring boost from the wing.

There is EuroLeague Women representation in established fan favourites of Elin Eldebrink (Mithra Castors Braine), Frida Eldebrink (Dynamo Kursk) and Louice Halvarsson (Uniqa Sopron).

Sweden will face Spain and Finland in the three-team Group I.

Sweden‘s 14-player roster:

Farhiya Abdi, Anna Barthold, Binta Drammeh, Elisabeth Egnell, Elin Eldebrink, Frida Eldebrink, Louice Halvarsson, Ulrika Holmqvist, Ashley Key, Alice Nystrom, Martina Staalvant, Josefin Vesterberg, Stefanie Yderstrom, Amanda Zahui.
