Preview: The February window of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Pre-Qualifiers

MUNICH (Germany) - The second window of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Pre-Qualifiers begins this week with all 10 teams in action.

Five teams head into February's fixtures with an unbeaten record with Austria the only team to pick up two wins so far. Four teams – the three group winners and the best-ranked second-placed team - will qualify to the Second Round of the Pre-Qualifiers.

Here's a look at the three groups:

Group A

Cyprus v Austria - 18:00 CET
Switzerland v Ireland - 19:30 CET

Sunday, February 27
Switzerland v Austria - 16:00 CET
Ireland v Cyprus - 18:00 CET

Austria took control of the group with back-to-back wins in November including victory in Dublin over Ireland to begin their three-game stand on the road. They travel to take on Cyprus and Switzerland across four days with a chance to consolidate their position in top spot.

Switzerland first host Ireland in a crucial clash between the two sides with 1-1 records as they look to replicate their previous success in Fribourg. Meanwhile, if Ireland were to take the scalp away from home, they could put themselves in a strong position ahead of a home encounter with Cyprus, who are in must-win territory following a winless first window.

Group B

2/6 games played

  GAMES GAME POINTS POINTS
# Team P W L % For Agt +/- FA AA
1 ALB Albania 1 1 0 100 92 89 3 92 89 2

Thursday, February 24
Romania v Albania - 17:00 CET

Sunday, February 27
Luxembourg v Albania - 17:00 CET

Romania and Albania go head-to-head on Thursday with a crunch clash in Ploiesti for control of Group B. The two sides both defeated Luxembourg in their opening games and battle it out for the early initiative on Gameday 3.

Albania stay on the road as they take on Luxembourg on Sunday having recorded a 92-89 victory on the opening night. It was the first of two three-point losses for Luxembourg and they can afford no further blips on their record if they are to maintain hopes of the Second Round.

Group C

2/6 games played

  GAMES GAME POINTS POINTS
# Team P W L % For Agt +/- FA AA
1 KOS Kosovo 2 1 1 50.0 155 159 -4 77.5 79.5 3
2 NOR Norway 1 1 0 100 86 77 9 86 77 2
3 DEN Denmark 1 0 1 0 73 78 -5 73 78 1

Thursday, February 24
Denmark v Norway - 19:00 CET

Sunday, February 27
Kosovo v Norway - 19:00 CET

Unbeaten Norway face a double-header on the road in a bid to maintain a winning start to their campaign. Defeat to Denmark would change the complexion of the group with their Scandinavian rivals desperate to avoid a second loss to start their journey in the Pre-Qualifiers.

As for Kosovo, they bounced back from a nine-point loss to Norway by beating Denmark and will hope to defend home court once more when Norway visit for the return fixture with potentially huge ramifications for the matchup.

To determine the best ranked second-placed team out of the three groups, the results against fourth-placed teams in the groups of four teams will be disregarded to compare the teams on a like-for-like basis as per the Official Basketball Rules.
