MIES - Following the failure of the Virgin Islands national team to arrive in Brazil for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifier game on September 16, the FIBA Disciplinary Panel announced its decision on Tuesday:

- A disciplinary fine of CHF 80,000 (eighty thousand Swiss francs) is imposed on the Virgin Islands Basketball Federation.

- A warning is issued to the Virgin Islands Basketball Federation that sanctions including an at least double monetary fine and a period of suspension for all its senior national teams (extending beyond and after the end of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers) will be imposed in case of recurrence of the same or similar offence.
