Hearn returns to lead USA on the road against Argentina and Uruguay

COLORADO SPRINGS (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers) – The USA's most experienced player from the FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifying campaign, Reggie Hearn, is back with the team for upcoming games on the road against Argentina and Uruguay.

Hearn also brings an experience that no other Americans on this roster can boast as he was a key player on the USA's gold medal winning side at the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup where head coach Jeff Van Gundy's squad fought back from double-digit deficits to defeat both Argentina and Uruguay on their home courts.

That will be critical as only two other players on the 12-man roster, Chasson Randle and Travis Trice, have previous USA Basketball World Cup Qualifying Team experience.

The 6-foot-4 Hearn has started in four of the five games he has played in for the USA in three prior World Cup Qualifying windows (Nov 2017, Jun/Jul 2018 and Sep 18) averaging 12.2 points and 4.2 rebounds a game.

Randle and Trice both played in the September 2018 World Cup Qualifier and helped the USA to two wins over Uruguay and Panama. Randle averaged 9.0 points a game, with Trice contributing 8.5 points and 4.5 assists a game.

Travis Trice

The USA (7-1) will train November 23-25 at the practice facility of the Houston Rockets before traveling to La Rioja, for a November 29 game against Argentina (7-1) for the top spot in Group E, and then to Montevideo  for a December 2 match versus Uruguay (5-3).

If Uruguay, currently level with Puerto Rico with five wins in eight games, can beat their island rivals in the first game at home, their match with the USA will take on much greater importance in the structure of the group.
