Procedure for FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers Draw

Bengaluru (India) – The procedure for the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers Draw has been issued ahead for the event which will take place on Saturday, June 8, at Shangri-La Hotel Bengaluru.

Twenty-four (24) teams have qualified to play in the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers with eight (8) teams qualifying through the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Pre-Qualifiers and sixteen (16) teams qualifying as participants in FIBA Asia Cup 2017. All teams are distributed into eight (8) pots of three (3) teams each, based on both the NIKE FIBA World Ranking Men and geographical principals.

 

Teams in the Eastern Region from EABA, SEABA, and Oceania are in pots 1 through 4 and will be drawn into Groups A, B, and C. Teams in the Western Region from WABA, SABA, CABA, and GBA are in pots 5 through 8 and will be drawn into Groups D, E, and F.

Pot 1: Australia, China, Philippines
Pot 2: Korea, New Zealand, Japan
Pot 3: Chinese-Taipei, Guam, Indonesia
Pot 4: Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia
Pot 5: Iran, Jordan, Lebanon
Pot 6: Qatar, India, Kazakhstan
Pot 7: Iraq, Syria, Palestine
Pot 8: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Sri Lanka

Each Group will draw one team from each pot in their respective region until the Group is full.

The FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers Draw will be complete once all the pots have been emptied and have fed their respective Groups.
