InterClube remain unbeaten, Equity Hawks register debut win

MAPUTO (FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup 2018) - A fired up Italee Lucas sunk an incredible 33 points to guide InterClube to a 77-70 victory over hosts Ferroviario de Maputo on Tuesday to remain unbeaten in Group A.

Lucas brought a spark to the game and with 21 points by the half time break even got the home fans cheerleading her every move much to their awe at her level of skill.

Lucas told FIBA.basketball that, "Today was so important for us to win and it is not just about myself and but for us to win whatever we had to do to get the win.

We want to get the best position possible because we do not take any team for granted. From the bench to the coaching staff, everyone's energy is very important."

Meanwhile, Equity Hawks from Kenya finally recorded their first win of the tournament following a convincing hard fought 84-75 win over AS V Club.

Belinda Okoth scored a game high 23 points, picked nine rebounds and made three steals in a game where her size and experience came in Handy.

Selina Okumu , whose contribution on defense and positive energy gave the Bankers a good vibe added 19 points while the dependable duo of Betty Kananu and Hilda Indasi Luvandwa added 15 points apiece.

Kenya Ports Authority had to dig deep to set up a 73-65 win over MB2ALL from Madagascar. It was a tussle right from the first minute but Anthony Ojukwu's side fought tooth and nail to ensure that they picked their second victory in Group B.
