ALEXANDRIA - HOST CITY

Alexandria is Egypt's second most populous city. Situated in the north-western Nile delta on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, it is Egypt's largest port.

It was founded by Alexandre le Grand in 332-331 B.C. From the 5th to the 6th century B.C., Alexandria was one of the greatest centers of civilization in the Mediterranean basin.

It was the capital of the Greco-Egyptian kingdom of the Lagids, then the capital of Roman and later Byzantine Egypt. It was conquered by the Arabs in 641, but they preferred Cairo as their capital.

ABOUT THE EGYPTIAN BASKETBALL FEDERATION

The Egyptian Basketball Federation is an association, affiliated to FIBA since 1934 and to FIBA Africa since 1961.

It is responsible for organizing, managing and developing basketball in Egypt.

The Federation also organizes the national championship.

The Federation also defends the moral and material interests of Egyptian basketball, and represents basketball in dealings with public authorities and national and international sports bodies, as well as representing Egypt in international competitions.
