Who was the most influential player in Group Phase of the 2022 U18 African Championship?

ANTANANARIVO (Madagascar) - Since the start of the 2022 FIBA U18 African Championship a week ago, a number of players have had a positive impact on their team's performance, which raises the question whether or not they were the MVPs of their respective teams in the Group Phase.

With the end of the Group Phase, we're having a look at the players who stood out from the rest.

Scroll down to vote for your most influential player in Group Phase of the 2022 FIBA U18 African Championship.

IBRAHIMA DIALLO (Guinea)

He is Guinea's poster boy. The 1.70m (5ft 7in) point guard is a central piece of coach Zeljko Zecevic's plans.

Regardless of the game against Mali, where he was locked up by the West Africans' defence, Diallo always scored above the double digits.

Averaging 15 points per game after four games, the Guinean skilful player wants more than a spot in the Semi-Finals. Madagascar, their next opponent, should be wary of him.

OUSMANE NDIAYE (Senegal)

Here is another one to watch for the future. Ousmane Ndiaye, a 2.10m (6ft 11in), is currently the cornerstone of the Senegal's play.

Along with Mouhamed Faye, they literally paved the way to Senegal's success against the hosts. The Quarter-Finals against Angola should be the day he catches all the limelight.

MOHAMED HENDY (Egypt)

Egypt's shooting guard Hendy is hungry for titles.

Since Day 1, he has posed himself as an important part of the Pharaohs' tactics. And he always strikes at the right time. The only time he seemed out of the game was when Egypt suffered against Mali. That day, he promised that the Egyptians would bounce back and become more dangerous. Algeria are warned.

MATHIAS M'MADI (Madagascar)

He is regarded as a hero. But more than that, he is the one the Malagasy team turns to when things go wrong and he seems to always find the solution to an issue.

M'Madi currently leads the scoreboard with 21.3 points per game. He is, let's face it, the man of the moment for Madagascar.

ABDRAMANE KANOUTE (Mali)

Kanoute was in tears when Mali lost to Angola in the Group Phase. But the competitor he is came back and forced Egypt to their knees the next day, doing what he usually does : 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. He always seems to have the key to the situation. Mali owes him a lot.
