Top 5 Performances from Day 6 of the #FIBAU18Africa 2018

BAMAKO (FIBA U18 African Championship) - Mali and Senegal on Wednesday closed their Group Phase campaigns at the FIBA U18 African Championship in Bamako with commanding wins that couldn't go unnoticed.

The two title contenders head to the knock out stages, starting on Friday, as the only undefeated teams, and here is a recap and some highlights from Day 6 of the tournament.

Biram Faye (Senegal)

Faye has been the heart and soul of this Senegalese team. In Wednesday's 99-70 win over Rwanda, the 18-year-old recorded his third double-double in the tournament, finishing with an impressive 26 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks contribution.

In the process, Senegal closed their Group B campaign with a perfect 4-0 before taking on Libya in Friday's Quarter-Finals.

Elias Ngoga (Rwanda)

Rwanda may have conceded their second defeat in four games, but Elias Ngoga continues to rise to the occasion and make his name for himself.

Despite the heavy 99-70 defeat against title contenders Senegal, Ngoga led his country with 15 points and 10 rebounds, his first double-double in the competition.

Siriman Kanoute (Mali)

The hosts destroyed the Democratic Republic of Congo 107-57 to improve their record to 5-0 ahead of Friday's Quarter-Finals against Tunisia.

Led by Siriman Kanoute, who finished with a team-high 18 points, Mali saw five of their players contributing eleven points more each.

Adress Zeew (Libya)

In a do-or-die clash for both Libya and Guinea, Zeew inspired his country to a much-needed 66-64 triumph. He finished with a game-best 27 points and added a team-high 9 boars.

In the process, Libya booked a Quarter-Finals meeting against Senegal.

Toumi and Hamemly (Tunisia)

The Tunisians took to the floor knowing that a defeat against neighbours Algeria would mean the end of their FIBA U19 World Cup aspirations.

With that in mind, Yacine Toumi and Houssem Mahemly finished 18 points each in a game that required a double overtime. Eventually, Tunisia prevailed 84-78.

Toumi added 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks in 41:31 minutes while  Mahemly added 7 precious boards.

The Quarter-Finals will take place on Friday with the following fixtures:

Libya v Senegal
DR Congo v Angola
Rwanda v Egypt
Tunisia v Mali

The winner of the game between Algeria and Guinea will face Uganda on Saturday in a battle for the Ninth-Place.
