ISTANBUL (Türkiye) - China may have suffered their first loss of the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2026 but Zhao Boxin was a major force in the paint against Canada with 8 blocks - one off the all-time single game mark.
Zhao's display came in an 87-78 loss to the North Americans - against whom they have never won in five games. He is one of just six players with at least 8 blocks in FIBA U17 World Cup history.
The all-time FIBA U17 World Cup record is nine blocks, done twice - by Jonghyun Lee of Korea in 2010 against Spain and Egypt's Moatasz Hosny against Lithuania in 2012.
USA forward Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje earlier in the day set the USA Basketball record with 7 blocks against Japan.
