Boomers deny Tall Blacks yet again, thanks to Hickey's heroics

WELLINGTON (New Zealand) - No way he can get another game winner, can he?

    Turns out HE can.

When Aussie shooting guard Davo Hickey nearly fumbled the ball on the right wing with 5 seconds remaining, you would have thought New Zealand had this game in the bag.

After all, they had enjoyed the upper hand through most of the second half, and were buoyed by home support this time, as against the previous loss in Hobart.

    But Hickey had other ideas.

First-ever back-to-back game winners in the WC Qualifiers?

Following Hickey's earlier heroics in Hobart, his back-to-back game-winner in the second leg inside of three days, is arguably a first-ever for the World Cup Qualifiers, across all regions combined.

For now, he has made us firm believers that lightning can strike twice...and in the same World Cup Qualifiers window, and against the same opponent at that.
