MIAMI (United States) – The first day of action in FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers Window 2 has concluded, and across the four opening games we witnessed several outstanding individual performances. Now it’s time to review the top players of the day. Cast your vote below in the fan poll and let us know who deserves to be named Player of the Day. Marcus Carr was sensational in Canada’s victory over Puerto Rico, extending their unbeaten record to 3-0 in Group B and becoming the first team to advance to the Second Round. With Trae Bell-Haynes unavailable, the point guard stepped into a leadership role and delivered 34 points (a perfect 11-of-11 from the free-throw line), along with 9 assists and 4 rebounds.

Tavario Miller returned for Bahamas after missing the AmeriCup and the opening window of these Qualifiers, and he made an immediate impact. The veteran power forward played a pivotal role in securing his team’s first win in Group B, posting 22 points (8-of-9 from the field), 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Mexico had as many as six players score in double figures in their dominant win over Nicaragua in Group A, but Gabriel Girón led the charge on both ends of the floor with 16 points and 11 rebounds. In that same matchup, Jared Ruiz did everything he could for Nicaragua, finishing with 26 points (including four three-pointers), 5 assists and 4 rebounds, though it wasn’t enough. Another player who battled to keep his team in the game was Jamaica’s big man Kofi Cockburn. The center asserted his dominance in the paint—just as he did in Window 1—this time recording a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Still, it wasn’t sufficient, as his team fell at home to Bahamas.
