SHENZHEN (China) – The 2025 FIBA 3x3 World Tour Shenzhen burst into life with drama and fireworks as Toulouse and Samobor excelled through Day One at the South Square of Bao’an Stadium. Both squads went unbeaten, stamping their authority early and declaring themselves among the teams to beat in Shenzhen.
Toulouse Locked In
Toulouse looked sharp and steady from start to finish, taking command of Pool C with two strong wins. Franck Seguela and Hugo Suhard delivered when it mattered most, leading the Frenchmen past Shanghai, 21-18, before dismantling Raudondvaris Hoptrans, 21-12. Already crowned champions once this season, Toulouse are hungry to add another World Tour Masters title to their haul.
Samobor Surprise
The biggest revelation of the day came from Croatian side Samobor, who rose from the Qualifying Draw to conquer Pool D. Ivan Vrgoč caught fire, scoring 10 points with three long bombs in a 21-15 upset over powerhouse Vienna. Samobor followed that up with a gritty 21-19 win against local favorites Chongming, capping an impressive debut at their first World Tour Masters appearance of the year.
Partizan Sweep
Ninth-seeded Partizan also turned heads with a fearless run through Pool A. Vuk Borovićanin spearheaded their attack in a stunning 22-16 upset over top-seeded Ub, then they followd that up with a decisive 21-11 victory against Hangzhou. With momentum on their side, Partizan now look primed to chase their long-awaited first World Tour Masters crown of the year.
Riffa Rise
Riffa also finished the day unblemished, sweeping Pool B with grit and poise. The seventh-seeded squad took down second-seeded Amsterdam RABOBANK in a 21-19 thriller, driven by Vic Van Oosterwyck's 7 points. They then rode Dennis Donkor's hot shooting to eliminate Valencia, 21-14, as the Bahraini squad advanced to the Quarter-Finals.
Lights Out from Down Under
The Shootout Contest, which was presented by the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Bao’an District, Shenzhen, saw Brisbane’s Lachlan Anderson catch fire, draining 8 shots to top the Qualification Round. Joining him in the Final are Marijus Uzupis (Raudondvaris), Juanma Robles (Valencia) and Nico Kaltenbrunner (Vienna), who each sank 5 two-pointers.
