BUCHAREST (Romania) - The FIBA 3x3 World Tour's biggest names are heading to Bucharest, with nine of the top-10-ranked players in the 2026 season expected to take the court at the 12th stop of the regular season.
From the No. 1 ranked Strahinja Stojacic to reigning World Cup champions Nauris Miezis and Francis Lacis, Bucharest brings together a star-studded field packed with FIBA 3x3 World Tour winners, international champions and players capable of taking over a game in an instant.
With the race for the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Rio de Janeiro Final 2026 heating up, these are the players to keep an eye on.
Stojacic remains the standard
If there is one player everyone in Bucharest will have their eyes on, it is Strahinja Stojacic.
The Ub (SRB) star, better known as 'Doctor Strange,' remains the No. 1 ranked player on the FIBA 3x3 World Tour this season and continues to set the standard on the Pro Circuit. He also remains the leader in overall player value.
Stojacic enters Bucharest fresh from another statement performance at FIBA 3x3 World Tour Deqing, where he helped Ub finish second. The Serbian powerhouse will now look to turn that momentum into another title as they chase their third World Tour stop win of the season.
No. 2 and No. 3 are coming for him
Stojacic may sit at No. 1, but the two players directly behind him in the rankings will also be in Bucharest.
Worthy de Jong has been one of the biggest forces behind Amsterdam RABOBANK's (NED) outstanding 2026 campaign. The No. 2 ranked player led Amsterdam to the World Tour Vienna title and has since helped the team finish second at World Tour Amsterdam, Singapore Challenger, Beijing Challenger and World Tour Debrecen. Fresh off a top-six finish at Deqing, de Jong will now look to lead Amsterdam to a second World Tour stop victory of the season.
Fabian Giessmann, meanwhile, has arguably enjoyed the best season of his career. The Baskets Bonn (GER) star is ranked No. 3 and has been at the heart of a remarkable campaign for his team. Baskets Bonn are the only team with three World Tour wins in 2026, having triumphed in Amsterdam, Lausanne and Debrecen. Giessmann has also added Challenger success in Manila and La Réunion, making him one of the hottest players on the circuit heading into Bucharest.
Caruso brings Miami momentum
Henry Caruso arrives in Bucharest as another player enjoying a strong 2026 season. The Miami (USA) star is currently ranked No. 6 and has already helped his team collect multiple pieces of silverware this year, including Challenger wins at FISE Birmingham, Sansar and Phoenix. Miami also captured the World Tour Zadar title earlier in the season. Caruso is fresh off helping Miami to a fifth-place finish at Deqing and will now look to push the team deeper into the competition in Bucharest.
Donkor arrives as a World Tour winner
Dennis Donkor could hardly have asked for a better confidence boost heading into Bucharest. The Antwerp (BEL) star is fresh off a magical run at World Tour Deqing, where he led Antwerp to their first World Tour stop win of the season and earned MVP honors. Donkor also helped Belgium reach the Quarter-Finals at the recent FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup Crelan 2026 and was part of Antwerp's run to the top five at the Phoenix Challenger.
At his best, Donkor is one of the most dangerous midrange and two-point shooters on the Pro Circuit. Ranked No. 8 in the 2026 player rankings, he will arrive in Bucharest with the confidence that comes with already having delivered on the World Tour this season.
Searching for the breakthrough
Few players arrive with a stronger international résumé than Nauris Miezis. The Latvian star is a FIBA 3x3 World Cup and Europe Cup 2026 champion and has already added Challenger success at Sukhbaatar this season. Yet one piece is still missing from Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy's (MGL) 2026 campaign: a World Tour stop win. Miezis will be looking to change that in Bucharest, where Ulaanbaatar will enter as one of the leading teams in the field. With his experience and big-game pedigree, he remains one of the players no opponent will want to overlook.
Ready to make noise
Lucas Ugolin is another player arriving in Bucharest with plenty of momentum. The Toulouse (FRA) star was one of the standout performers at Deqing, helping the French squad secure a third-place finish while making 13 two-pointers, good for second overall at the event. That shooting form could prove decisive in Bucharest. With Toulouse among the top seeds, Ugolin will once again be expected to provide offensive firepower and help his team challenge the established World Tour contenders.
Turning the corner
Francis Lacis enters Bucharest from a very different position. The reigning FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2026 champion has experienced an up-and-down season with DeQing (CHN), but the home side will have an opportunity to reset in front of its home fans. DeQing finished 12th at their home World Tour stop and 11th at the Madrid Challenger, results that leave plenty of room for improvement.
Lacis, though, has already shown what he can do on the biggest stage. A World Cup title earlier this year proved his ability to deliver when the stakes are highest, and Bucharest could provide the perfect setting for him and DeQing to rediscover their best form.
Field packed with stars
Other top-10-ranked FIBA 3x3 players expected to see action are: Nenad Nerandzic and Nemanja Barac of Ub, Jonas Foerts of Antwerp and Jan Driessen of Amsterdam RABOBANK.
With nine of the top 10 ranked players expected to be in action, Bucharest is set to be one of the most talent-packed stops of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2026. And with so much at stake as the World Tour season closes in on the Rio de Janeiro Final, Bucharest could provide another chapter in what has already been a memorable 2026 campaign.
