BUCHAREST (Romania) – Spain have claimed their first title of the season after defeating Lithuania 15-10 in the Final of the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series Bucharest 2026 on Thursday.
Led by tournament MVP Alba Prieto, the Spaniards produced a composed display in the championship game to end Lithuania's remarkable run and emerge as deserving winners in the Romanian capital.
The Final
The titular game was a tense, defensive battle between two of the tournament's hottest teams. Lithuania made the brighter start and raced to a 4-1 lead, but Spain gradually found their rhythm and drew level at 5-all midway through the contest.
The teams continued to trade blows in a tightly contested affair, with Lithuania trimming the deficit to just one point at 11-10 with less than a minute remaining. However, Spain delivered in crunch time as Helena Oma and Marta Canella combined for the game's last four points to seal a 15-10 victory and hand Spain their first FIBA 3x3 Women's Series triumph of 2026.
Road To The Final
Spain hit the ground running at the Bucharest Metropolitan Circus. They recorded opening-day wins over Ireland and Poland to reach the Quarter-Finals. They then carried that momentum into Day 2, eliminating Netherlands U25 before edging top-seeded Netherlands 17-14 in a thrilling Semi-Final to book their place in the title game.
For their part, Lithuania's journey was nothing short of remarkable. The Baltic side advanced from the Qualifying Draw and never looked back, reeling off six straight victories, including impressive wins over Germany, Latvia, Czechia and home favorites Rapid Bucharest. Their dream run eventually came to an end in the Final, but they left Bucharest as one of the tournament's biggest stories.
MVP
Spain's victorious campaign was spearheaded by Alba Prieto, who earned MVP honors after a spectacular tournament.
Prieto finished with a competition-best player value of 45.0 and was the joint leader in total two-pointers made, along with Lithuania's Kamile Nacickaite-van der Horst, sinking 11. Prieto also ranked second in total points (30), highlights (19) and drives (7), underlining her all-around brilliance throughout the event.
