Women’s Series heads to Romania with contenders chasing crucial standings points

BUCHAREST (Romania) - The stage is set for another exciting chapter of the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series 2026 as a talented field descends on Bucharest, Romania on July 1-2.

Perennial championship favorites Netherlands (NED) arrive as the top seed and will be eager to continue their impressive season against a strong lineup featuring home favorites Rapid Bucharest (ROU), Germany (GER), Poland (POL), Spain (ESP) and Latvia (LAT).

The Dutch have been one of the standout teams on the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series this year and will look to carry that momentum into Bucharest. They headline Pool A alongside Czechia (CZE) and Romania (ROU).

Second-seeded Rapid Bucharest will have the backing of the home crowd as they seek a deep run on home soil. The Romanian powerhouse has been drawn into Pool B with Netherlands U25 (NED) and fellow Romanian side Bucharest (ROU).

Germany enter the tournament as the third seed and are among the most dangerous teams in the field. They headline Pool C together with Latvia and the winner of Qualifying Draw A.

Pool D promises fireworks with fourth-seeded Poland and fifth-seeded Spain set to renew their rivalry. The pair will be joined by the survivor of Qualifying Draw B in what could prove to be one of the toughest groups of the tournament.

Before the Main Draw begins, six teams will battle for the final two available spots.

Qualifying Draw A features Lithuania (LTU), Rīga (LAT) and Croatia (CRO). Lithuania will look to capitalize on their experience, but both Rīga and Croatia have the talent to turn heads at the Bucharest Metropolitan Circus.

Qualifying Draw B is equally intriguing with Ireland (IRL), Singapore (SGP) and Belgium (BEL) all fighting for a place in the Main Draw. Singapore will be aiming to build on valuable experience gained throughout the season, while Belgium and Ireland should pose stiff challenges for qualification.

With established contenders, ambitious young squads and several dangerous home teams in the mix, Bucharest promises another highly competitive stop on the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series 2026.
