MANCHESTER (Great Britain) - Stefan Joksimovic of Slovenia capped off his unforgettable experience at the Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Europe camp 2025 by taking home the Most Valuable Player award.
Joksimovic was adjudged as the top player for his performance at the 22nd BWB Europe camp, which took place from August 12-15 in Manchester. The top 60 high school age boys from the continent were brought together for the NBA and FIBA’s global basketball development and community outreach program, which took place for the first time Great Britain.
Joksimovic and the other campers went through a variety of activities, including movement efficiency drills, offensive and defensive skill stations, three-point contests, 5-on-5 games, and life-skills and leadership development sessions.
The coaches for the camp were 2024-25 Kia NBA All-Defensive Second Team member Ivica Zubac (LA Clippers; Croatia), 2018-19 Kia NBA All-Rookie Second Team member Kevin Huerter (Chicago Bulls; U.S.), 2011 NBA champion Tyson Chandler (U.S.), five-time NBA champion Derek Fisher (U.S.), two-time WNBA champion Sylvia Fowles (U.S), Philadelphia 76ers head coach and two-time British Basketball League champion and coach of the year Nick Nurse (U.S.), 76ers assistant coach Bryan Gates (U.S.), and former NBA player and veteran assistant coach Roy Rogers (U.S.).
Joksimovic, who about two weeks earlier had helped Slovenia to sixth place at the FIBA U18 EuroBasket 2025, was the top scorer in the game action during the camp, averaging 8.9 points per game. That included the two highest outputs in the competition: 17 and 13 points.
Joksimovic was not on the team that won the camp's tournament. The winning team was Phoenix, who beat Philadelphia in the Final 34-32 with the following roster: Thomas Acunzo (Italy), Sten Markus Adamson (Estonia), Jayden Anike (Netherlands), Kelvin Clement (Great Britain), Jamie Edoka (Germany), Obinna Ekufu (Great Britain), Tuen van der Heijden (Netherlands), Matthys Mahop (France), Ignas Stombergas (Lithuania) and Omer Ziyaettin (Türkiye).
Great Britain's Obinna Ekufu was honored as the Defensive MVP of the camp. Omer Ziyaettin of Türkiye was given the Patrick Baumann Sportsmanship Award and Lithuanian Emilis Zibuda was the 3-Point Champion.
