MUNICH (Germany) - The entertaining twists and turns of the EuroLeague Women First Round continue to provide a stern challenge for those trying to climb the Predictions Leaderboard as we enter the second half of the opening phase.

Week 4 features return games, meaning a potential repeat of some fabulous matchups that have already stuffed the highlights reel earlier in the campaign. Not least, Beretta Famila Schio facing Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring after their epic in Istanbul, while Casademont Zaragoza and Basket Landes looks too close to call, too.

    Expert Picks

This season we're calling on the one-two punch of FIBA's global women's basketball specialist Paul Nilsen and EuroLeague Women lead commentator Mark Mills for their predictions.

This week it's Paul passing the baton back to Mark for his Gameday 4 predictions.

    Safe Pick🔒

Fenerbahce Opet are riding high, and with the return of 'McBuckets' it’s hard to see many teams slowing them down. Combine that with DVTK HUNTHERM's continued offensive struggles, and it’s fair to expect Fenerbahce to head into the final two games of the First Round with their perfect record still intact.

    50/50🪙

CIMSA CBK Mersin versus Umana Reyer Venezia is a crucial one for both sides, though for very different reasons. Mersin are hanging by a thread and are now at the must-win stage of their campaign. Meanwhile, Reyer came crashing back to earth last week against Basket Landes. The French side made them look average and disjointed for the first time this season. This one could genuinely go either way, but by the sheer law of averages, I’m leaning towards Mersin. That much talent has to win a game sooner or later.

    Wildcard 🃏

This week is tough to call for a true wildcard. Landes over Zaragoza crossed my mind, but that hardly feels wild enough. So here’s a lava-level hot take: my wildcard is Sopron Basket to beat Flammes Carolo Basket on the road. Remember, Carolo won the reverse fixture by 28 points just a few weeks ago. I’m not entirely sure where this prediction comes from, maybe it’s nostalgic, but that’s my pick - so wish me luck!
