    FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments draws confirmed for both women and men

    MIES (Switzerland) - The official draws for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2020 for both women and men took place this afternoon in a ceremony at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball.

    MIES (Switzerland) - The official draws for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2020 for both women and men took place this afternoon in a ceremony at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball, FIBA headquarters. 

    The four FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, taking place from February 6-9, 2020 will be played in Belgium, China, France and Serbia. 

    The results of the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2020 draw are:

    Belgrade, Serbia

    Nigeria, USA, Serbia, Mozambique

    Bourges, France

    France, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Australia

    Foshan, China

    Korea, China, Great Britain, Spain

    Ostend, Belgium

    Canada, Japan, Sweden, Belgium

    The top three teams from each of these tournaments will qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

    FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018 champions USA and the hosts of the Olympic Games, Japan, will play in the qualification tournaments but will advance through to the Tokyo 2020 Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament regardless of their results.

    The four men's FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, taking place from June 23-28, 2020 will be played in Canada, Croatia, Lithuania and Serbia.

    The results of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2020 draw are:

    Belgrade, Serbia 

    Group A - Dominican Republic, New Zealand, Serbia
    Group B - Puerto Rico, Italy, Senegal

    Kaunas, Lithuania

    Group A - Lithuania, Korea, Venezuela
    Group B - Poland, Slovenia, Angola

    Split, Croatia

    Group A - Germany, Russia, Mexico
    Group B - Tunisia, Croatia, Brazil

    Victoria, Canada

    Group A - Greece, China, Canada
    Group B - Uruguay, Czech Republic, Turkey

     

    The winners of the four tournaments will qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

    In attendance at today's draw ceremony were distinguished guests including FIBA Secretary General, Mr. Andreas Zagklis, and over 40 representatives from the National Federations of participating teams and host countries.
     
    Media professionals wishing to apply for accreditation for these upcoming tournaments should register in the FIBA Media Portal. The application period will open on Monday, January 6, 2020, for the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments and Monday, May 18, 2020, for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.
