RIGA (Latvia) - Finland forward Miikka Muurinen was named as the first ever FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Rising Star award winner after his strong play in his team's historic run in the tournament.

The 18-year-old played a major role off the bench in helping the Susijengi make history by reaching their first-ever EuroBasket Semi-Finals - one step further than the country had ever advanced.

Muurinen provided a major energy boost for the Finns, especially with some of the most breathtaking dunks in the entire competition. He averaged 6.6 points while shooting 60 percent from the floor including 6 of 17 from long range for 35 percent.

Muurinen chipped in 1.9 rebounds per game in 11 minutes while collecting 3 steals and 5 blocks in eight appearances.

This was Muurinen's second summer playing with Finland after he averaged 2.7 points and 1.7 assists at the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament Spain.

Standout players born in 2004 or later were eligible for the new digital honor.
