    'Slim Jesus' Muurinen headlines World Team for Nike Hoop Summit

    Miikka Muurinen broke out at the FIBA EuroBasket 2025

    Miikka Muurinen will be the biggest name for the World Team at the 27th Hoop Summit.

    COLORADO SPRINGS (USA) - Finnish star prospect Miikka Muurinen will be the headliner for the World Select Team at the Nike Hoop Summit as the team of international players was announced by USA Basketball.

    The 19-year-old Muurinen rose to near superstar status last summer in helping Finland finish a historic fourth place at the FIBA EuroBasket 2025. The walking highlight maker was awarded as the Rising Star of the competition.

    Muurinen, who plays with Serbian side Partizan Belgrade, also competed at the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament Spain and the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers. Muurinen is one of numerous players on the World Team with international experience.

    China big man Sinan Huan has played at the FIBA U16 Asia Cup and FIBA U18 Asia Cup as well as the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup and FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup.

    Adam Atamna helped France take second place at the FIBA U18 EuroBasket 2025 and third at the FIBA U16 EuroBasket 2023.

    The international team also includes two stars from the Guinea team that made their debut at the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024. In the Classification 13-14 game, Abdou Toure became the second player in the history of the competition to score 50 points after hitting that mark against China.

    Arafan Diane meanwhile helped Guinea win the FIBA U16 AfroBasket 2023 title - the country's first ever youth continental crown and then he starred at the U17 World Cup as well. Diane also competed at the 2025 Basketball Without Borders Global camp.

    Sayon Keita has yet to play for his native Mali in a competition but he is already a big name, having earned minutes with the senior team of Spanish giants Barcelona.

    Canadian Miles Sadler played at the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024 and Tajh Ariza and Ikenna Alozie will be competing in their second Hoop Summit after representing Japan and Nigeria, respectively in the last edition.

    The other players are Maximo Adams (Argentina) and Baba Oladotun (Nigeria).

    The team will be led for the first time by coach George Zedan of Mexico. Zedan previously served as an assistant for the World team.

    Eight past World Team players have been selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft including Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and Deandre Ayton.

    The USA hold a 19-7 series advantage over the World team.
