Miami show out on Day 1 of FIBA 3x3 World Tour Abu Dhabi 2024

    ABU DHABI (UAE) - Miami displayed top form as they went unbeaten on Day 1 of FIBA 3x3 World Tour Abu Dhabi 2024 on October 26.

    TEAMS

    MIAMI (USA)

    After winning the historic spot last year, a new-look Miami showed the same level of dominance as they handled business in pool play. Dylan Travis and Trey Bardsley were key on offense alongside James Parrott who took over on both ends of the floor. 

    They got highlight and clutch plays against Pirot in their opener before they defeated the Lithuanian juggernauts Raudondvaris to close out pool play 2-0. 

    VIENNA (AUT)

    The Austrian side came with a core bolstered by the return of Nico Kaltenbrunner went undefeated in pool play as well. 

    They defeated Hangzhou with a stifling display defensively. Quincy Diggs, Toni Blazan and Kaltenbrunner all scored 6 each in the winning result. It was a tandem scoring effort yet again as they took down a contending Liman side. 

    ULAANBAATAR MMC ENERGY (MGL)

    The Mongolian sides are yet to repeat the fortunes of last season, but their recent uptick in form was on display in Abu Dhabi. 

    They started off with a marquee win over World number one Ub Huishan NE, a 17 - 15 result thanks to a monster showing from Delgernyam Davaasambuu who got 7 points while Dulguun Enkhbat picked up 6. 

    They handled business against Lausanne to close off pool play on a hot streak and a 2-0 record. 

    AMSTERDAM (NED)

    The Dutch side also finished perfect in pool play, starting off with a major win over Riffa in a thriller. Bryan Alberts made the go-ahead shot late in the game for the 20 - 19 victory. Their closer was a Worthy de Jong spectacular. He put up 15 points in their win over Düsseldorf to finish a 2-0 display. 

    PLAYERS

    JAMES PARROTT (Miami)

    The high-flying Parrott was doing it all for Miami. He put up 16 points as well as accruing a team-high 21.7 player value.

    He picked up numerous highlight plays on both ends of the floor as his statement performance bodes well for Miami’s chances heading into tomorrow. 

    DULGUUN ENKHBAT (Ulaanbaatar)

    A dominant day for Ulaanbaatar was bookended by a gritty display from Enkhbat. He was key defensively but was the offensive hub for the Mongolian side. He put up 13 points in a 2-0 display as they head into Day 2 with momentum. 

    WORTHY DE JONG (Amsterdam)

    The Olympic Gold Medalist came out on an offensive frenzy for Amsterdam. A 4-point opener was followed by a massive 15-point outburst against Düsseldorf. The Dutch Giants will need him to be hype worthy on Day 2.
