A weekend full of upsets ended with Madrid celebrating in Vienna

VIENNA (Austria) - Madrid (ESP) captured their first title of the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series 2026 after defeating Ulaanbaatar Amazons (MGL) 20-14 in the Final of an exciting stop in Vienna on June 14.

The Spanish side emerged victorious from one of the most unpredictable FIBA 3x3 Women's Series tournaments of the season, surviving a dramatic Quarter-Final against Netherlands U25 (NED) before edging Mitsubishi Electric (JPN) in a Semi-Finals classic and then producing a dominant performance in the Final.

Vienna proved to be a tournament of surprises. The top four seeds all advanced directly to the Quarter-Finals after sweeping their respective pools, but none would survive the opening knockout round. Rapid Bucharest (ROU), Germany (GER) and Canada (CAN) were all eliminated as the lower seeds turned the bracket upside down, creating a wide-open race for the crown.

Madrid ultimately navigated the chaos best, showcasing their trademark resilience and clutch shot-making to lift the trophy.

In the Final, Madrid saved their best performance for last. The Spanish side stormed out of the gates and seized complete control, racing to a stunning 12-1 lead as Ulaanbaatar Amazons struggled to find any offensive rhythm. María Roters and Blanca Millán spearheaded the attack while Madrid's defensive intensity prevented the Mongolian side from generating clean looks.

Ulaanbaatar Amazons attempted a spirited comeback behind the efforts of Khulan Onolbaatar and Ariuntsetseg Bat-Erdene, trimming the deficit to 16-11 with less than four minutes remaining. However, Madrid maintained their composure and continued to execute on both ends.

Blanca Millán led Madrid with 7 points in the championship game as the Spaniards closed out a memorable 20-14 victory and secured their first FIBA 3x3 Women's Series stop triumph of 2026.

The road to the Final was packed with drama in Vienna. Rapid Bucharest, Canada and Germany swept their pools to advance directly to the Quarter-Finals, while Madrid survived a couple of close games to secure a knockout berth. However, the favorites were quickly brought back to earth on Day 2 as Ulaanbaatar Amazons upset Rapid Bucharest, France edged Germany in a thriller, and Mitsubishi Electric stunned Canada behind their hot perimeter shooting.

Madrid were the only top-four seed to survive the Quarter-Finals, needing a late comeback and a clutch Juana Camilion game-winner to eliminate Netherlands U25. Ulaanbaatar Amazons then punched their ticket to their first Women's Series Final of the season behind another strong outing from Onolbaatar, while Madrid survived one of the games of the tournament as Millán buried a buzzer-beating two-pointer to deny Mitsubishi Electric and set up a titular showdown against the Mongolian powerhouse.

    MVP

Juana Camilion of Madrid was named FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Vienna 2026 Most Valuable Player (MVP) after playing a central role in Madrid's magical run.

The Spanish star finished the tournament ranked first in key assists (11), second in highlights (20) and third in player value (33.9). Her leadership, playmaking and clutch shot-making proved instrumental throughout the weekend, including the game-winning two-pointer in the Quarter-Finals.
