BORDEAUX (France) - The FIBA 3x3 Women's Series 2025 journeys back to Europe for the Bordeaux Stop, which promises nonstop entertainment on August 20-21.
Let's preview all the action of the 12th stop on this season's Women's Series.
The Favorites
Let's start with host France, who have long been an OG on the WS but 2025 has not quite been as fruitful. They remain title-less, but are starting to approach their formidable best having reached consecutive semi-finals.
There is a lot of hope that France can break their drought on home soil. Eve Wembanyama - yes you well know the name - and Myriam Djekoundade represent a formidable one-two punch and they will need to be firing on all cylinders because this is a deep field.
Canada defended their half-court superbly in Edmonton and deserve the No.1 status because this team is filled with stars led by legendary Katherine Plouffe.
Spain remain one of the best in the business, as two titles this season proves, and they will bring another strong line-up to Bordeaux.
You just know Olympic hero Juana Camilion will be extra amped up having no doubt remembered her legendary deeds on the recent one-year anniversary of Spain's silver medal run at the Paris Games.
Ulaanbaatar Amazons (MGL) and CS Rapid Bucharest (ROU) also have to be rated among the favorites, testament to their consistency with both teams currently sitting in the top six of the WS standings.
The Field
It's a bit strange to have powerhouse USA not on the above list, but they will have to make it through the long way from QD. But don't write off any team that boasts scoring machine Linnae Harper and OG Cierra Burdick. Austria could be a dark horse having reached the quarters twice this season, while we're excited to see young guns Bonn Baskets (GER) in action with 18-year-old Lisanne Rawer tipped to be the next superstar from her Olympic gold medal winning country. Thailand may be in the QD, but are capable of a giant-killing run because Rattiyakorn Udomsuk is one of the best scorers on the planet.
