Greece kept their cool during a late flurry from Iceland to secure promotion

IOANNINA (Greece) - Greece secured promotion to Division A with victory in Tournament 3 of the FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket, Division B, on home soil.

After three quarters of dominance, Greece had to endure a fourth quarter ambush by Iceland in the Tournament 3 Final, but eventually won 75-72 to celebrate earning top-flight status next summer.

A strong third quarter from the Greeks ultimately separated the two teams, with the hosts in control, but they had to withstand immense pressure from Iceland in a frantic fourth quarter.

Iceland would hold Greece to just four points in the first nine minutes and saw their double-digit lead shrink to just 72-70 with 1:10 remaining, but Greece, led by Kalliopi Chousela's 21 points, held firm.

Berglind Hlynsdottir had a game-high 32 points in vain for Iceland, which narrowly missed out on promotion.
