MIES (Switzerland) - USA remained the number one country in the FIBA World Ranking Men, which has a new No. 2 as Germany rose one spot after claiming the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 title in spectacular fashion, finishing the tournament as invincible European champions.
Paris 2024 Olympic gold medalists USA held onto first place in the world, despite ending up third at the FIBA AmeriCup 2025. The reigning FIBA Basketball World Cup champion, Germany, defeated Türkiye to win their second ever continental crown. Germany swapped places with third-ranked Serbia, who were eliminated in the Round of 16 at EuroBasket.
France also failed to reach the EuroBasket Quarter-Finals but stayed fourth. They are followed by Canada, who improved by one spot to fifth after coming in fourth at the FIBA AmeriCup 2025. Australia, winners of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025, were rewarded by climbing one place, moving ahead of Spain, who lost three out of five games in the Group Phase at EuroBasket.
AmeriCup 2025 runners-up Argentina and Lithuania follow, ahead of Brazil, who used their title-winning AmeriCup run to move up two levels into the top 10.
Türkiye were the biggest risers in the top 50, rising from 27th to 12th after reaching their first EuroBasket Final since 2001. They got past Latvia, Czechia, former number two Serbia, Poland, and Greece - all higher-ranked opponents.
Greece claimed a historic medal but also lost to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Türkiye, beating only one higher-ranked team - Spain - during the tournament.
Finland moved up from 20th to 17th thanks to their first-ever continental Semi-Finals appearance, achieving the second-highest score increase in the Top 20 behind Türkiye.
FIBA Asia Cup 2025 bronze medalists Iran advanced by two places, reaching 26th, while finalists China shifted up three positions to 27th.
FIBA AfroBasket 2025 champions Angola progressed from 33rd to 29th. They went undefeated on home soil, but aside from South Sudan, they only beat teams ranked lower than themselves. Senegal rose from 47th to 45th after securing the bronze at the continental tournament.
The biggest standout among all countries was Mali, who rode their silver medal at AfroBasket 2025 to leap 18 spots, reaching 65th in the world.
Other notable improvers included Sweden and Portugal, who each surged by nine positions - to 40th and 47th, respectively - after reaching the Round of 16 at EuroBasket 2025. In the Americas, Uruguay were the highest climber among the top-ranked teams, jumping seven levels to 44th following their 7th-place at the AmeriCup 2025.
Last but not least, Jamaica earned a spot in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers through the Pre-Qualifiers, going from 107th to 95th place in the process.
