    Press Release

Eight of the sixteen African teams will begin their 2027 Qatar World Cup qualifying campaign in Egypt and Senegal.

ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - The FIBA Regional Office of Africa has confirmed that Egypt and Senegal will host Window 2 of the 2027 World Cup African Qualifiers.

This followed the conclusion of Window 1 of the World Cup qualifiers, which took place in Rades, Tunisia, in November 2025. Eight teams, split into Groups A and C, competed in the four-day event in Tunisia.

Window 2 of the 2027 World Cup African Qualifiers will take place from 26 February to 1 March.

Dakar will host Group B, consisting of Senegal (the host nation), Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Madagascar.

Group D, for which the host city has yet to be confirmed (Alexandria or Cairo), consists of Egypt, Angola, Mali and Uganda.

The FIBA Regional Office of Africa has also confirmed that Window 3 of the World Cup African Qualifiers, in which all 16 teams will compete, will take place from 2 to 5 July, with the host countries yet to be determined.

Teams finishing in the top three places in Groups A, B, C and D after the third window in July will advance to the second round of qualifiers, while those finishing last in their respective groups will be eliminated.

Window 4 of the qualifiers will take place from 27 to 30 August, with the 12 teams split into Groups E and F.

The fifth and final qualifying window will take place in February 2027. Five tickets are available for African nations for the 2027 Qatar World Cup.
