PIRAEUS (Greece) - Andrea Capobianco has been named the Best Coach of FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2025 after masterminding Italy's first podium finish in three decades. Starting their journey in the competition on home soil in Bologna where they went unbeaten, Italy ended a memorable campaign clutching a bronze medal in Piraeus.
It arrived after they delivered a convincing and superb 69-54 success in the Third Place Game against France. Italy also showed huge resilience to react to a devastating Semi-Final defeat at the hands of eventual champions Belgium, who they almost toppled to make the title game. Finishing with a 5-1 tournament record and first medal since 1995, Capobianco wrote himself a significant chapter in Italian basketball history.
