Daniele Paunksnyte made it a day to remember in Matosinhos as she made history with her 43 points to guide Lithuania past Israel 101-95. It also provided the base for a spectcular performance efficiency valuation of 48 after she added 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals to her scoring brilliance.
Evelina Otto was sensational for Latvia as they eased past Iceland 87-73. She accumulated a huge double-double of 26 points and 17 rebounds in the contest.
Ajsa Sivka caught fire for Slovenia and went to work in a 71-58 win against host nation Portugal. She produced a fine line of 26 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
Netherlands celebrated a pulsating 79-77 success against Italy which was founded on a superb effort at both end of the court from Ilse de Vries. The Dutch star stepped off court having contributed 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks.
The win for Netherlands came despite a brilliant display from Cristina Osazuwa who harvested 31 points and 7 rebounds in defeat for the Italians.
